Billie Marsh Porter

Savannah- Billie M. Porter, 75, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Candler Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Savannah Georgia to William Henry and Clara Fannie Marsh on January 31, 1938. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marion McNeil Porter Jr. and her sister, Virginia Kessler.

She leaves behind two daughters, Lesley Herrington Jeremy of Savannah and Alissa LeGates Ken of Roswell Ga., four granddaughters and one grandson: Emily Cochran, Alice Cochran, Caroline LeGates, Nicholas LeGates and her honorary grandchildren Aleaha Herrington, Joshua Herrington, and Genevieve Herrington.
She had a great love for her family, especially for her nieces and nephews: Kelley Horan, Kristina Horan, Shelby Horan, Kim Higdon, Alyson Adams, David Porter, Michael Porter, Marylee Porter, Robert Porter and Rachel Street.

Billie graduated from Savannah High School in 1955. She was employed by the Savannah Sugar Refinery in the early 1960's.
Billie married the love of her life, Marion McNeil Porter Jr. on June 3, 1961.
She left Savannah in 1972 following her husband's career. They resided in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Hong Kong and Japan before returning to Savannah in 1989 to live on Burnside Island where she enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling the world. Billie was a member of Skidaway United Methodist Church.

The memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday August 2, 2013 at 2pm at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church.
Billie was a passionate vibrant lady; please honor her wish for a colorful memorial.
